AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A company that manufactures defraying solutions to reduce the spread of the coronavirus said Thursday it is filing for bankruptcy.
The Dallas-based company, Defrayal Corporation, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.
The bankruptcy filing was filed Wednesday with the U,S.
Federal Reserve Bank.
The company did not provide a reason for the filing.
A spokesman for the U.,S.
Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General said the bankruptcy filing is part of a criminal investigation into the company’s operations.
Defrayal has about 2,000 employees and operates in 20 countries, including the U-S., Brazil and Argentina.
It is based in Houston.
The company had said last year that it expected to hire another 50 people and that it was still working on a new plan to improve its response.
Defence Secretary Ashton Carter on Thursday said he was hopeful the federal government would be able to continue to help the company.
